Industry analysts have determined that 90% of all emails sent and received on the Internet are in one form or another SPAM.  In March of 2008 a marked increase in the amount of spam was observed by industry analysts and by Sleekcom mail servers.  In an effort to curtail spam Sleekcom is implementing a new more effective filtering system.  If you use Outlook Express, Outlook or some other mail client this filtering system will require you to make a couple of minor changes to your program settings.  If you use Sleekcom Web Based Mail no changes on your part are required.  The filter system is not optional.  If you have a Sleekcom or Anet2 email address it will be filtered.  We can not exempt individual email accounts from filtering.

We have been testing this system for over two months and have found it to be between 90% and 95% effective in managing spam emails and 99.9% effective in removing virus sent via email.  There is not a system in existence that is 100% effective so you will still receive a few spam messages from time to time.  Just as you may receive some spam messages some legitimate messages you want to receive may be marked as spam or not received at all.  This filtering system is fully RFC compliant to receive emails from properly configured and maintained mail servers.  If you are not receiving emails from certain senders or have messages that are getting tagged as spam when you feel they should not, chances are the mail server of the sender is not properly configured to industry standards or the messages contain specific details that appear to be spam.  Because of the complexity of email filters Sleekcom can not make adjustments to the filtering system for individual senders.  If you experience this problem we recommend you advise the sender to contact their mail server administrator and ask it to be brought into compliance with RFC standards.  For emails tagged as spam you want to receive in your main inbox there are filter rules that you can manage for your account.  To answer more questions you may have Sleekcom has provided a frequently asked question section.

Below are links with detailed instructions on how to change your email client program for the new filtering system.  When the system goes live you will receive an error from your Outlook or Outlook Express when you try to send or receive emails.  You will not be able to send and receive messages until you make the changes.  You may need to reboot your computer for the new changes to take effect.  If you have messages in your outbox that will not send after you make the changes and reboot you should delete them from the outbox and recompose them.  There are also links for making filter rules to manage messages in your spam box.  If you use an email client other than the ones listed here, you should consult the documentation for your specific client in order to make the changes.
